VODcast: We’re Great!

A youngster who typically has difficulty focusing for any length of time is intrigued by his image on the screen. You can see his enthusiastic, joy-FULL viewpoint on life oozing out of his pores as he sings this song with his music therapist. FAQautism VODcast: We’re Great! My buddy and I sing his favoirte song: ‘We’re Great!’

The young student is singing his favorite song, “We’re Great!” I use it to close every music therapy session, giving participants an auditory cue that things are coming to a close. It has some rowdy sections, and ends on an upbeat note to encourage a positive attitude as they hit a period of transition to their next activity. “We’re Great” is adapted from a song I learned from a music therapist 30 years ago. I don’t remember her name, but I appreciate her creative composition.

Lyrics:
We’re great! (We’re great!) but nobody knows it, nobody knows it so far.
Someday (Someday) they’ll realize how wonderful we are.
They’ll look at us (hmmmmm) and they’ll point at us (hmmmm)
Then they’ll shout Hurray! (Hurray!)
We’re great! (We’re great!) but nobody knows it, they’ll all know someday!
(name of person)….You’re great!
We are GREAT!
